After this step is completed, the dentist will take a mold of your tooth and fit it with a temporary tooth cap made of plastic or steel. The mold will be sent to a dental laboratory and used by dental technicians to make the crown. Upon receiving the crown, the dentist will remove the temporary crown and put in the permanent one using dental cement.
