CROWNS AND BRIDGES

A crown or cap is used to cover your whole tooth. It is especially helpful when dealing with serious problems like a fractured tooth, a tooth that is badly decayed (and may have a large filling) or a tooth that is badly damaged. It is particularly useful when dealing with back teeth that get a great deal of wear and abrasion. Crowns are strong and long-lasting. They require replacement infrequently. A Bridge is a fixed appliance (prosthesis) that replaces missing teeth, using artificial teeth that are attached to adjacent teeth, usually on both sides, by crowns or to your natural teeth (or a combination).
