Avoiding the Dentist Can Hurt More Than Just Your Teeth and Gums
This office has always advocated the benefits of regular checkups.
We have explained how routine dental examinations can be your most
costeffective way of avoiding dental problems. If you are one of
the people who puts off making a dental appointment because you are
afraid, you are not alone. Thirtyfive million Americans are uncomfortable
or frightened about visiting the dentist. You know that in this office,
if you tell us about your fears, we will make an added effort to put
you at ease and to alleviate your fears. That's the kind of dentistry
we practice and what we have always been about ù giving you quality
care in a stressfree, comfortable environment.
A new study released by the Center for Oral and Systemic Diseases
at the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry has given
us even more reason to encourage you to make your appointments on a
regular basis. We've always known that bacteria are responsible for
gum disease. This study has shown that these bacteria, when left unchecked,
also find their way to other parts of the body, through the bloodstream.
Bacteria, anywhere it doesn't belong, can create all kinds of problems.
That's why keeping bacteria in your mouth under control, will not
only keep your teeth and gums healthy, but also help to protect your
general health and body wellness.
Remember, if you have any discomfort about visiting our office, please
feel free to talk to us in advance of your visit. We'll be happy to
share some stress-busting tips and discuss options for alleviating
your uneasiness.
